| Straw Tour Diary (from official site):
Long drive from London to Nottingham. I guess you just have to get the right mentality about it. It's like going on a school trip or something.
Got to Nottingham about four and loaded in. No support band so we had a bit of spare time. Sometimes having no support can be good 'cause you don't have to move the gear around when you come on stage. It never goes on the same way. It's like when you come back from holiday and nothing will fit back into your suitcase.
Headed off for a bite of pizza. Good to get time to just chill for a while. On stage around nine. Little venue with a cool atmosphere. The audience enjoyed it - they were all clapping anyway! Sound was great and the vibe was good. We were all very relaxed and when we're that relaxed we play miles better. "Lufthansa", the aeroplane song, is going down really, really well as lots of people seem to know it. Highlight: us playing so well and getting loads of "Well dones" afterwards.
After packing up we talked to a few fans. We're really flattered that people turn up to these gigs so it was brilliant when fans come back and tell us they saw us two years ago too.
On the way back stopped in at a Hooters bar. An amazing experience. Lots of women with orange fake tans and tiny little orange shorts. I think it might have been my idea to go there but I have to point out I was joking. Girls like that scare me. I'm sure it would have been exciting in Miami but it was midnight in Nottingham.
Checked into the hotel. I always share with Dan so we've got a bit of a routine going. We get in, chat about the band, I phone my mum and we see if there's any football on telly. Then it's off to sleep.
