| Melody Maker:

Straw have bagged themselves a swanky new record deal, but remain confident enough to stick to the understated, soft, raw charm that gave their cute tunes like "The Aeroplane Song" so much promise.
"I know it's probably desperately un-cool of me, but I really like this song. I have a soft spot for melody. This could be any one of about 1,000 bands at the moment - either the nice kitsch bits of Pulp or the really annoying bits of My Life Story. But I'm prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt. It's got such a 1999-2000 sound, you know, that real Travis-meets-Coldplay-plus-the-best-bits-of-Oasis-and-Radiohead, back-to-roots, retro feel." (A moog belches dirtily). "Ooh, ooooh! I like that - that great big fat bit of Seventies Moog. Nice. The second track is even better. Lovely, Lovely. Sign them!"
