Gig Review - 12/9/00 - Charlotte, Leicester

Straw Tour Diary (from official site):

Everything was all a bit up in the air because we weren't sure if we could get any petrol to actually make it up there.
Sorted out petrol but it took an hour to get out of London because of all the queues of mad people waiting to get petrol and fighting and stuff - not very nice. Mattie got there on the train - a bit late but that's Mattie for you. He's the singer so he gets away with it.
Managed to fit in a kick around at the university before setting up which is always a good start.
The venue used to be called The Princess Charlotte and used to be absolutely horrible but they've done it up and it's really nice now.
Gig went well, sound was good and "Weird Superman" went down a storm. Did a version of Status Quo's Caroline as an encore. We'd never rehearsed it or practised it, but Mattie started playing it so we decided to join in. Amazingly it went down really well - everyone was doing the full Status Quo dance - that music does something to you! Good fun and the crowd enjoyed it.
Hand still hurts a lot - I keep knocking it - my finger's actually split so I've got it covered up. I don't believe in doctors.
Looking forward to the gig in Portsmouth 'cause it's always a good one and the crowd's always up for it.
